This summer I got to go to Honduras with my mother to see my family. We have been here for a month now and have done some pretty great things. When we come to Honduras we usually live separately due to living arrangements and resources. My mom stays with my grandma at her home while I stay at my aunt's house with my little cousins. I choose to stay here because they have air conditioning, wifi and my favorite little cousin, whom I love as a sister. The house is a two story house with a big yard and is in a gated community. I love being able to stay with my family, but I honestly dislike not being able to stay with my mom and her not have air conditioning and wifi like I do.
So far the trip has been fun and simple. I have gone to the malls here and done some shopping and seen some interesting things. The way of life in Honduras is very different from what I am used to since I am from Georgia, but it is also very exciting for me. When I am here in Honduras I don't have to worry about answering my phone or social media since I don't have that much signal unless I a pay for a phone service here. I won't lie, I do pay for a phone service here, but I don't use my phone as often as I do when I am in the United States. There are days where the lights or the cable and internet go out for no reason, which sucks because of the heat and the lack of wifi. This is not something we experience very often in the United States since it is a first world country. From my understanding, things like that happen here so that they can ration their sources and make sure that other people have the chance to have lights and internet.
Every time that my mother and I comer here for vacation our family plans a huge family trip so that we can all be together. This year we rented a beach house in Omoa, which is a little city in Honduras outside of San Pedro Sula. We got to spend the weekend in the beach house, and we had not only the beach but a nice big swimming pool with a waterslide. The experience of just being there with my family and having a fun time in the sun is everything that I needed and hoped for. This was the only really exciting thing we did this summer since my cousins are still in school. Besides that trip we just stayed around the house or went to the malls for fun. This was an amazing trip and I can't wait to return for another one.
